Our Vision

The Immersive Experience Alliance (IXA) is dedicated to advancing the field of immersive media through accessibility, applied creative research, and educational enrichment. Our mission is to empower creators, educators, and NGO innovators to use immersive and extended reality technologies for meaningful social impact.

Guiding Principles

IXA’s work is rooted in accessibility and inclusivity, social impact, educational and professional enrichment, and applied creative research.

We aim to expand equitable access to immersive tools and platforms, support shared resources and labs across geographic and socio-economic boundaries, and foster a more inclusive field. We are committed to advancing immersive and interactive experiences that contribute to social change and a more just technological future.

IXA also supports education, upskilling, and professional development for students, creators, researchers, and practitioners working in XR and immersive experiences. Through applied creative research, we bring together immersive researchers and makers who are exploring real-world challenges and the broader cultural potential of immersive technologies.

What We Do

IXA supports community-building, professional development, publication, outreach, and collaboration across the immersive media field.

This includes creating opportunities for virtual knowledge-sharing, supporting member-hosted events, connecting creators and researchers, and building pathways for collaborative projects and field-wide visibility. IXA also hosts or co-hosts in-person gatherings at events and supports recognition of excellence in immersive storytelling and ethical innovation.

The Immersive Impact Review serves as IXA’s online academic magazine, with an emphasis on accessible, reflective, and practical writing about immersive media and experiences.
